No Sew: Easy Teacher's Gift

Yep. My kids got out of school last week and it totally creeped up out of nowhere! I was so unprepared for the end of the year. I was the one that was up late on Thursday Night making gifts for my son's and daughter's amazing teachers. I asked the kids what their teacher's needed and they both said the same thing: They are out of dry erase markers. So... I came up with this:

Supplies:
2 Jars... or Peanut Butter Bottles... whatever you have
Decorative Fabric
Plain Fabric (mine is a textured linen)
Iron
Hot glue
Mod Podge or Decoupage

1. Decoupage the fabric onto the jars. Fold over the bottom and the last bit so there is no raw edge.

2. Cut a strip from your linen about 2 1/2 inches wide and 24" long. Iron it in half so you have a long skinny strip. Open it up and fold each side over to that middle line you made. Fold it back in half and iron. Yep, you just made Bias Tape.

3. Using your handy glue gun, roll a bit of the fabric and glue it, as shown above.

4. Cut a circle of felt and glue your little bud to the center of the felt. Then you get creative. Glue and scrunch it in a spiral. Every now and then, fold it to add more interest. Just do what looks good to you. This really is simple. When you get to the end, glue the last bit to the bottom of your felt so it's hidden.

5. Cut another strip of you linen to make the band around the top. Go ahead and iron in the raw edges. You can sew it if you want a more finished look or just use that amazing glue gun. Glue on your flower after trimming the felt so you can't see it.

6. Add markers, an eraser, a tag or card and there you go! A cute AND useful teachers gift. Enjoy!

This is especially great when you are on a tight budget. My husband is starting his own company this year and I've really had to get creative. It hasn't been all bad, though. We've learned a ton about money management. My husband even started a money management website about what we've learned! Check it out. The guy has some great ideas.

That is a great idea. Every teacher needs pen and markers. Thanks for linking up to my Back to School link party!
